[Syrupmakers] Mounting Mill

Jay,
With a horizontal mill, I know it should be mounted level---the rollers level need to be level for best performance and least wear of the gears. With a vertical, horse drawn mill I would think that it would be less critical, though. The juice should flow out of the spout okay even if mounted level. So why tilt it ?
Now a lot of people add an extension to the spout--like a PVC pipe for example, or even a plastic goose-neck funnel, maybe. This can aid in keeping the juice where you want it and not running back under the mill on the spout when flow is low. That would be my only suggestion.
                                                 Richard

  Hello all,
I'm now ready to mount my Chatt. 12 down to the
framework. Do any of you all mount your mill with the
spout end slightly lower to help the juice flow in
that direction? and if so how much?
Thanks,
Jay

Jay
