I would jump all over this if I needed a mill. You could spend a little on the two of them and then get all or most of it back with the sell of one of them. I would love to add them to my collection, but I can not at this time. I have two horz. and 1 vert. Would be hard to explain to the other half why I need another one at this time.

    Tracy,
Excellent job of photos and descriptions. Now I finally have a clear idea what the mill looks like--after 3 years with only photos taken by the owner which were rather poor.
Now I know the size of the rollers are comparable to a Goldens' 45 power mill--only the diameter is 3" less. But since all the rollers are the same diameter, it may have a milling capacity equal or greater than a 45.
It's a nice looking mill tandem that I hope someone will save from the scrapyard!
      Thanks for the pics !

By the way, the mill was made by Ruston FDY(Foundry) and Machine.

I finally made it back to the Labadieville, LA mill where the old mill site is being torn down and sold for scrap. The current owner (Mr Milazzo) is asking $2k for the mill-pair. I have taken lots of pics and posted them at:

Look for the 25 pics under “Labadieville Mill” (Note that the pics labeled “Making Syrup” are old ones of me and are NOT associated with the mills for sale.)
  2 – 10” X 20” sets of horizontal roller mills.

Note that there are several upper bearings and bull gears ‘missing’. The previous owner has them but is in dispute with the current owner. I believe the bull gears aren’t necessary, assuming they could be powered by a much smaller gear (the shaft could be turned down to whatever size you like.) The bearings could be duplicated or machined based on the remaining one.

All the other equipment has been sold (including the steam pistons, boiler, etc. The owner is willing to help get the mill(s) on a trailer with his equipment. The mills can easily be split apart and used separately if desired. So, your only cost is for the mill(s) and your travel. My hope is that someone on this list will have a use for mills of this size and quality. Again, he plans to cut them up and sell them for scrap if they don’t sell soon!!!

  Contact information for the mills:

If anyone does purchase them, please let me know!
  Thanks,

P.S., He also has a 15’ metal lathe and 50ton press for sale from an old commercial sugar house in the area
both work, but are pretty old.
