Subject: [Syrupmakers] late sorghum
Hello all,
Has anyone planted a late crop of sorghum for syrup?
I'm considering a late crop that would be ready
perhaps a few weeks before the sugar cane is cut. Here
in S.C. our first killing frost is usually in nov.
Would the cool nights affect the cane. I feel that it
would surely grow somewhat slower in its latter
maturity stages. Or would the late planting cause the
sorghum not be suitable for syrup? Also it shure would
be nice to be able to Cut-Mill-&cook when it is not so
HOT here.
Thanks,
Jay
