[Syrupmakers] Kettle cooking help

Well, my sorghum has been in the ground about 3 weeks. Not a drop of rain
since before I planted. Luckily there is a spring under the field where I
plant, so it's actually out of the ground, but not thriving.

Anyway, I always start preparing my equipment right after I plant, that way
everything is in working order come harvest and cooking time. This year I
decided to tear the corn binder apart and sandblast the metal and replace
the wood. I'm in the middle of that project now.

The other thing I want to do this year is make one of those rings that go
just inside the kettle (I have a goldens 80 gallon) to boil the syrup over
and filter. I have cooked in my kettle the last 3 years, but have been
wanting to make one of these and learn to use it. Can anyone using a kettle
give me any dimensions on the ring and any pointers on how to use it?

Thanks

Good luck to everyone on their crops this year.
