[Syrupmakers] Hows Everyones Sugar Cane Looking?

Mine just started jumping.(in central Miss.) This is my 1st year so it  may 
be normal, but the cane seems to be jumping a few inches a day. It's a  little 
dry, but it's sprinkling outside now. I also thought that I didn't  get a very 
good stand, but that stuff sure does bush out and take up a lot of  space now 
that it's bigger. 
 
Is there anything I can spray right now to kill the grass and not the  cane?
If I can get that under control I should be doing good.
 
Is it time to apply some nitrogen?
