[Syrupmakers] This year's new commercial variety - L01-283

It's been selected from the USDA research station for sugar making
characteristics, but I've been told by some of the researchers that it
would probably be very good for syrup making as well. Since it's very
new, no one has tried it for syrup yet...If we wouldn't have to get it
in August, it might be worth buying a ton just to grind and make syrup,
but I fear that August is too early for the sugar content to high enough
for that.

My plan is to wait a yr or so before planting, to let the commercial
farmers discover any production issues it may have.

Is this a syrup making variety or is it for sugar making?
