Sheri,
You mentioned Central Indiana. I am located in Johnson County, about 25 miles south of Indianapolis. I have a horse drawn mill, it is at my farm in KY but I hope to bring it up to Indiana next weekend. I have a small patch here in IN(10- 150' rows) and a larger patch in KY. I usually do all of my grinding and cooking in KY but this year I hope to demonstrate with my horse drawn mill(and IN grown sorghum) at our local Heritage Festival the first weekend in October. If you are close you are welcome to compare how my sroghum is growing or ask any questions that you would like. Just keep in mind that I only speak with 5 seasons of experience.
We also make maple syrup down at the farm, and I am a new beekeeper, so if you would like to discuss maple syrup that would be good as well.
Jerry

Raymond,
HI, I did go out and begin to transplant them! I am hoping to save them all. It might be a stretch but certainly worth it if they survive. They are about a foot tall I would guess. I have not seen any tillers yet but will watch for them and pull them. There really isn’t any room for grass or weeds in my garden. Everything is too close together and I mulch with straw.
I could handle a horse drawn mill if necessary as we have a horse. I think the big problem would be finding a way to get something that heavy here.
Cooking outside is not a problem. I intend to try my hand at making maple syrup as well and would love to try sugar cane so I guess it is time to learn!
Sheri
