[Syrupmakers] excelsior mill

Peter, I am not acquainted with the design of your mill but we had a Golden
54 on which we regrooved the top roller. We built a tool bar that mounted
on the mill frame that spanned the width of the roller. On this bar we
attached a tool holder that could be moved thus allowing the tool to be
positioned in the center of each groove. Then as the mill turned, the
carbon steel tool could be forced into the face of the roller by a bolt we
positioned behind the tool. This took a little doing but in our case we
felt it would be easier in the long run.

Thank you. I just figured the discharge setting out this evening, however
I was unaware of how to set feed roller. Is there a calibrated setting that
I could use a feeler gauge to set proper distance? I plan to use cane as
well as sorghum. My top roller grooves are about gone, can they be built up
and re grooved if so where? If not do you know where I can get a
replacement?

            thanks,peter
