[Syrupmakers] Goldens' New Model #27 help needed.

Richard,
I hope to get up to casting iron (it's about the hottest to cast). But I  
want to try a gear in aluminum. There are some Al alloys that can do some pretty  
amazing stuff. But, I don't know if they'll hold up to that kinda wear and 
tear.  Anyway, I'll keep ya'll informed.

   When you ever get into making gears, please let EVERYONE  know...well 
maybe everyone but OSHA...you can leave them out, please. Many  folks would like 
to be able to get new gears--and even new rollers, too.   I believe that most 
of the patents covering cane mills should have expired by  now--and no one 
wants to make cane mills in the US. The molds alone  would cost too much--so the 
companies say. Smaller gears shouldn't be that  difficult, I would think. The 
big ones might be "tricky". I also hear of some  Amish foundries "up North" 
that duplicate parts. Good luck !

for my Chattanooga No.13. I was talking about it couple months ago  if ya'll 
remember. Well, I about have everything ready to  go.  These will be near 
original specs. Also, after I get some  practice casting molten metal I'm gonna try 
the other parts like gears and  such. Mabye I'll get good enough to offer ya'll 
my services. I'm still  looking for some good syrup making seed cane, maybe I
