[Syrupmakers] cane mill bearings

OK I think I got it now. One last question. What supports the  roller and 
shaft verticaly.On my mill (Chattanooga  13) there's the base plate with 3 holes 
for the shafts. In each whole  there's a big cast iron cup that each shaft 
sits in. Also in the cup  there's the cast iron collar that the adjustment screws 
push against and the  brass bearing fit against the collar. 
Now, does the shafts just rub on the bottom of the iron cups? It seems like  
they would just wear thru the cup.
 
I could send pics if it would help. And just tell me when ya'll get tired  of 
all the questions.
