This week's LA Market Bulletin hasn't posted to the website yet
(received my copy in the mail today):

Default.aspx
but there is an article on page 10 about sorghum tests in New Iberia and
Houma, LA producing 250gal and 500gal of ethanol per acre respectively.
Varieties tested included Theis, M81-E and Topper, with new varieties
being expected. Sorghum is discussed as a possible rotational crop with
sugarcane and rice.
Also, Ben mentioned that a substitute for glyphosate (Round-Up) as a
ripener on sugarcane will have to be found if 'Round-Up' ready sugarcane
is released in a few years.

Thanks,
Tracy
P.S. It looks like Gustav is aiming directly at me! Keep the prayers
comin! I'm just North of Houma, LA. The cane is nice and straight, and
is as tall as ever - it reached 14ft last year (with no hurricanes)!!!
