[Syrupmakers] seed cane

I just don't want to pick up any diseases. I'm going to some new land this  
year and would like to start with some good clean seed cane. The cane I bought  
last year has a lot of those sprouts coming out the side of the stalk. ya'll  
said it was virus. And it just doesn't look good all  around to me.
As far as variety, I'm not real sure I was gonna try 2-3 different kinds. I  
probably need to just come down and spend a day with you, Richard, you could  
probably tell/show me what I need to know to pick a variety. 
Another thing is that Poplarville sold there cane for $.35 a stalk.
 
If I had time to plan the trip, I could drive a day or so from  Poplarville.

I just talked to the lab in Poparville, MS. They said they aren't  gonna have 
any seed cane for sell this year. Were is the next closest  place to get good 
pure bred seed cane?
