[Syrupmakers] Alternatives to sorghum?

As mentioned previously, the sorghum crop here has suffered to the point of
being almost non-existent due to drought, so I am wondering about using
something different to demonstrate pressing with the mill and cooking in the
pan. I'm wondering about using milo, since it looks so similar, although
shorter, or maybe silage corn stalks. Both of these have done much better
than the cane. Has anyone ever pressed anything BESIDES sorghum or sugar
cane? And what did you do with the juice---can it be cooked?? And if so, how
did it turn out?
Any ideas or experience welcome.
