An extra (slower) step is to use a funnel with a reuseable coffe filter
in it. This slows the flow, creating less turbulance and also catches
anything that could make the syrup look "dirty". I keep a 5gal bucket
of water next to me to rinse the filters every so often, and keep extra
filters on hand to give them time to dry before reusing them.

Hello,
I find that filling my containers while the syrup is above 160 degrees
works
best. Also when filling jars/jugs, I tilt the container so the syrup
runs down
the side rather than down to the bottom, which cuts down on the
turbulence
which creates the foam.
Hopefully, someone else will chime in with their suggestions.
Ken
