Bill. I had trouble with grass for a few years. I mean embarrassing trouble. My cane patch would look like a hay field late in the year. This year I spaced my rows 50 inches apart. This allowed me to plow with my cub tractor in between stands. Later I used the lawn mower to keep the grass down. It worked great. I have a beautiful cane crop this year. Very clean!
