Bill,
I may have been somewhat incorrect on the "details" of Dr.Thomas Tew's "book". First of all, I had seen several references (in other publications)to something written by Tew and may have assumed it was a book. It appears that some of his work on sugarcane varieties was include in a book edited by Dr.Don Heinz in 1987. One chapter of the book was probably based on Tew's work.
     More about it :

A worldwide sugarcane variety census was conducted by the author[Tew] in 1985-1986. Information from the census was summarized and presented in the chapter entitled "New varieties" in the monograph "Sugarcane Improvement through Breeding," edited by Dr. Don Heinz, published by Elsevier Science Publishers.[ISBN: 0444427694]
The book is available for something like $150 + from a bookstore in Australia, I believe. Amazon.com was out of it at this time.
Thanks for your help and let me know if you find out more about FSU library's copy of Handbook # 122.
                                       Richard Harrison
