I spoke with Bob, I believe, about this sugarcane variety. A friend of mine gave me some of what sounds like the same variety. It is mostly green but blushes to red usually on 1 side. My friend near High Springs makes excellent syrup from it(gave me some last year). My stand did not blow over last year at maturity and only blew over some this year(very little). I am impressed with this variety and am seeking its identity. Does anyone know the name of it or where it came from ?

After eight cookings, our group of volunteers, all over 60 years old, say ENUFF! Consequently, because of that and the mild winter, we have leftover cane for sale.
You harvest, you haul from 5.2 miles south of I-75 in Gainesville, Florida. Four stalks per $1.00.
It's an unknown variety of hard green and purple cane which we have used to make an excellent syrup for the past nine years. With water and fertilizer, each year it has grown tall, thick and straight. There are 6 1/2 270-foot rows of cane, estimated to be 27 cubic yards or 5000 feet of rows if used as seed. Each of these rows makes a little over 80 gallons of juice.
Harvest on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Call Bob Henderson at (352) 284-7342 days or (352) 376-7031 evenings.
