After eight cookings, our group of volunteers, all over 60 years old, say
ENUFF! Consequently, because of that and the mild winter, we have leftover
cane for sale.
You harvest, you haul from 5.2 miles south of I-75 in Gainesville, Florida.
Four stalks per $1.00.
It's an unknown variety of hard green and purple cane which we have used to
make an excellent syrup for the past nine years. With water and fertilizer,
each year it has grown tall, thick and straight. There are 6 1/2 270-foot
rows of cane, estimated to be 27 cubic yards or 5000 feet of rows if used as
seed. Each of these rows makes a little over 80 gallons of juice.
Harvest on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays. Call Bob Henderson at (352)
284-7342 days or (352) 376-7031 evenings.
